About the Position: This position serves as a Medical Instrument Technician (Echocardiography) for the Congenital and Fetal Cardiology Service under the Directorate of Surgery at Portsmouth Naval medical Center. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Responsibilities
  • Perform full range of complex and high quality non-invasive congenital and fetal cardiac echocardiographic studies.
  • Perform complete and accurate pediatric and fetal echocardiographic examinations by utilizing highly specialized technical skills for this noninvasive modality to diagnose/assess congenital cardiac problems.
  • Identify, document, and report abnormal cardiac structures, blood flow patterns, and other significant findings to the interpreting physician.
  • Perform surveillance echocardiograms following cardiac surgical reconstruction.
  • Maintain examination records, ensure proper operation of echocardiography equipment, and perform related cardiac diagnostic procedures as assigned.
  • Monitor patients throughout examinations, recognize changes in clinical condition, and respond appropriately to emergent situations.
Education
