The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) IV Chief Mental Health (MH) provides a full range of services emphasizing quality, timeliness, and advancing the Veterans Affairs (VA) mission. The Chief MH APN executes leadership that is characterized by substantial and continuous responsibility and accountability for population groups or integrated programs that cross services and/or disciplines and influence the organization's mission and health care.

Responsabilidades
  • The Chief MH APN is a licensed independent practitioner with advanced education and national certification who is a senior level leader with substantial and continuous responsibility and accountability for population groups or integrated programs that cross services and/or discipline lines and influence organizational mission and health care. The Chief MH APN is responsible for leadership of MH service and programmatic operations, both clinical andadministrative. They function as an administrator, educator, and consultant in collaboration with all clinical services/programs at the facility or network level, interdisciplinary service leaders, and executive leadership. Major duties include but are not limited to the following: Assists Nurse Leaders, APNs, and interdisciplinary clinicians in carrying out the functions and activities expected of them Contributes ideas and recommendations for the establishment of standards of care, policies, and objectives for the enhancement of clinical practice Leads and collaborates in policy-making activities as related to customer service and the overall functioning of administrative and clinical programs Collaborates with other health care staff to establish and maintain programs that cross services and/or disciplines that influence organizational mission and health care Ensures compliance with VHA directives and regulatory bodies Monitors local performance measures, access standards, and provider productivity Leads continuous data-driven quality improvement projects Allocates resources appropriately including efficiency, budget, and personnel Provides leadership, guidance, and coordination of multidisciplinary staff to ensure the provision of comprehensive and quality services to meet the needs of Veterans served Supervises a group of employees performing work at various grade levels and across organizational units, specialty areas and programs providing administrative, personnel, technical and clinical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the unit/service includingoutreach efforts and efforts at other sites within the health care system Plans work to be accomplished by team leaders and program managers, including establishing priorities, timelines for completion, and necessary adjustments therein Uses advanced clinical judgment to independently provide evidence-based treatment to Veterans with acute or chronic mental illness including use of psychotropic medications, psychotherapy, and other modalities Provides patient and family education on medical/MH conditions, preventive measures, and prescribed treatments Oversees and monitors Veterans' adherence with program and medical center rules, regulations and policies. Tracks, monitors and reports on Veterans' participation in therapeutic activities Provides executive input in the strategic plan, budget, mission, operations, and policy development for local and network efforts Utilizes current trends and relevant theories in an analytical framework to design, implement, and measure integrated programs and activities to achieve clinical and administrative goals Evaluates outcomes against strategic priorities Demonstrates substantial and continuous responsibility for directing and managing an integrated service/program Serves as a consultant to medical center staff and the greater community in areas of expertise VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm Telework: Ad-hoc according to Agency policy Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Requirements

U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
